New coaches inspire teams’ confidence

Boys? and girls? varsity lacrosse began their season with a series of scrimmages before jumping into Liberty District play.

The girls? varsity team had its first game last Tuesday against Annandale High School and lost 7-12. Both the boys? JV and varsity teams had their first games last Wednesday against Annandale as well. Varsity lost 0-18 and JV lost 0-13.

The teams are under the direction of new head coaches Andrew Freeman and Nicholle Depaz respectively.

Team members remain confident despite having many new members and coaches.

?It?s a new sport for a lot of players, but I think we?ll do really [well],? sophomore Laura King, a JV player, said.

The girls? JV team is primarily comprised of freshmen, as well as athletes new to the sport.

Similarly, the boys? JV and varsity teams are made up of freshmen players, with Freeman as their new coach.

?I think [Freeman is] a really good coach; [he] knows all the plays,? freshman David Mock said.

Both varsity teams? played on Monday against Langley High School. Results were not available at press time.
