Track anticipates continued success from winter to spring

After the individual successes in the indoor track season, the spring track and field team hopes that the momentum from the winter will carry over into the upcoming season.

Junior Courtney Herbolshiemer has high expectations for the team.

“[I expect that] we will make it to the Penn Relays and that we will show well in the district meet, and maybe even win districts [as a team],” Herbolshiemer said.

Senior and co-captain Andrew Dickson also has high hopes for the season.

“I believe that we will have more members on the team who will make it to regionals,” Dickson said. “Last season had a very good turnout and hopefully the trend will continue.”

A large percentage of the track team is comprised of freshmen and sophomores.

“The spring track team is very young this year compared to past years,” Herbolshiemer said, “so it?s going to be really fun to see how all of our freshmen and sophomores do.”

Despite the fact that there are less seniors this season, Dickson is not worried about the chemistry of the team.

“The team seems a lot more focused,” Dickson said. “There are not many seniors this year, but everyone on the team seems to be well aware of their goals.”

Dickson added, “Since we do not have many seniors this year, many have had to help lead the team. This involvement of more members of the team has really helped the team develop a tight-knit and cohesive relationship.”
