Softball overcomes weather delays to win

Rain pours down as the varsity softball team sits in their bus waiting for the verdict of whether or not they will play. After a long drive out to Stone Bridge High School, the game has been cancelled, marking the third schedule change of last week alone.

The constant change in schedule and the uncertainty that accompanies the changes has been a major frustration for the team.

?The weather lately has been more frustrating than anything,? senior Michelle Tilson said. ?But weather never affects how we play.?

Despite the constant uncertainty in the schedule, varsity has been able to persevere and finish the season with a 14-5 record.

?This year we have the best record we?ve ever had since I?ve been on this team,? Tilson said.

Another obstacle the players faced was ?coming together as a team,? senior Lauren Sanata said.

For seniors, as the final season of their high school careers come to a close, this is a time of reflection.

?I?m proud of how far we?ve come, not only this year, but over the past three years,? Tilson said. ?My freshman year, we didn?t even make it past the first round of districts and last year we made it to the district championship.?

The team recently lost 6-1 at home against Madison High School on May 13.
