Heather and Ashley Holt, a pair of freshman twins, finished in eighth and ninth place at the Oatland Invitational, a cross-country 5k in Leesburg.
It’s unusual for freshmen at Marshall to place so well in this race, according to Coach Darrel General. Both girls placed at 19 minutes and 14 seconds at the September 20 event.
“This has been the first time probably since I’ve been here that we had some freshmen that run that fast starting off early in the season,” General said, adding that he expected the school to have its best girls team since 2002.
“Track has been really great; it’s a very supportive environment. I definitely recommend it,” Heather Holt said.
