Science fair brings more than just education

Students who participate in science fair get to experience a lot of exciting and significant things that could help them in their future. Whether it is learning to work with different chemicals or experiencing what it is like to write a 10 page paper and not get overwhelmed.

“Science Fair is a huge learning opportunity,” Physics teacher Nimel Theodore said.

Most of the IB 1 science classes get to participate in the science fair which happens on Feb. 7th. And if the participants are freshmen then they get help from seniors or students who have done science fair before.

That way each year, they would have unique and new ideas to present to the judges.

“ Students are currently completing up their projects and completing their papers,” Theodore said,

There are a lot of steps to finishing science fair, but they are spaced out so that students do not feel overwhelmed.

“The process is very helpful because you have different deadlines,” Sophomore Nicole Hauffman said.
Participants have to write long papers, and that is why their teachers give them time between steps in the process.

Even though science fair might seem like a lot of work it also has it’s advantages.

“The people that judge you are actual scientists, so if you wanted to do something with science in the future …,” sophomore Shaazia Ahmed said.

Many experiments work with bacteria, plants, or electricity.

For instance, the effect of different amounts of aspirin applied to K12 EColi, said Hauffman.
Science Fair teaches you engaging lessons that you could you use for future preferences.

“Science fair is a fun thing to do if you’re to work,” Ahmed said.
