Seniors commit to universities for sports on signing day

On Wednesday at 4:00 p.m, 10 seniors officially committed to colleges across the country for sports.

Throughout the school year, colleges scout the best players and offer them spots on the team through scholarships. This culminates on signing day, where players sign contracts agreeing to play for the university team in college.

The event begins with coaches speaking about their players, shedding a tear or two, and applause from relatives. Next, players sign their contracts and seal the deal as pictures are taken.

For girls soccer, Rylie Hughes signed to the University of Central Missouri, Ashlee Hiller to Oberlin College and Sanam Milani to Radford University. Field hockey player Emma Payze is going to Shenandoah University. Baseball player David Stiles committed to Muskingum University. Football player Dylan Liskey signed to US Military Academy West Point to play rugby. Girls lacrosse player Laura Crone is going to Piedmont University. For boys lacrosse, William Buhrman signed to Randolph College, Kenneth Ward to the United States Coast Guard Academy, and Jonathan Zou to Bridgewater College.
