Vice president of Dating Abuse Stops Here Wendy Claunch and Red Flag Campaign representative Heather Sarmiento led a presentation for seniors last Tuesday to raise awareness about the warning signs and effects of dating abuse.
“I thought any opportunity to talk about healthy relationships would be great,” director of student services, Cindy Blakeley said.

“Real life stories are a lot more moving and make more of an impression.”

Claunch led an information session about the warning signs of an abusive relationship and the lethal warning signs.

Several broadcast networks recently announced the cancellation of long-standing television shows with well-established audiences as well as up-and-coming shows that received a variety of reactions from critics. Among the shows cancelled are House, One Tree Hill, Blue Mountain State and Terra Nova.

House, a medical drama about Dr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie) and his unconventional methods, has aired on Fox since 2004. According to Fox president Kevin Reilly, Laurie and the producers of the show decided that the show had run its course and it was time to call it quits.

Statesmen wrestlers James Cusack and Matt Crawford, both seniors, wrestled in the Virginia AAA State Wrestling tournament at Robinson Secondary School on Feb. 17 to 18, finishing in eighth and third places, respectively.

Crawford beat Yorktown High School wrestler Charlie Whel on the second day of the tournament to earn his third place finish in the state. Cusack lost his final match that determined the seventh and eighth place finishers in his weight class.
