Student-led clubs fill in for dropped classes

For students hoping to study forensics and creative writing, new clubs have taken the place of the dropped classes.

English teacher Martha Noone is now the sponsor of the creative writing club. According to member Lily-Ana Fairweather, a junior, the club is planning to run writing workshops and host guest writers.

Meanwhile, social studies teacher Richard Resig now sponsors the forensics club, although English teacher Jeannine Mortell taught the forensics class.

While the clubs provide opportunities to engage with the subjects, some students express disappointment that the classes are no longer available.

“Both classes were very useful for students who don’t feel comfortable with their writing and speaking skills,” junior Elnaz Ghajar-Rahimi said.
