Octagon Club holds shoe drive for Haitian children

Soles 4 Souls is a drive to help provide shoes to disadvantaged children in Haiti. The Octagon Club plans and carries out community service, and they organized the shoe drive, continuing the annual tradition.

The club set up multiple boxes around the school for anyone who wanted to donate between October and November. The drive collected 75 pairs of shoes.

“The impact of this shoe drive is major in countries like Haiti,” senior and Octagon Club officer Teddy Daniel said. “The shoes really help the people, but they also help the Haitians who get jobs distributing the shoes to people in need. All around, it’s a really good thing to participate in.”

The packaging of the shoes took place on Nov. 17. Members of the club joined in the effort.

“I want to help those kids who are less fortunate than me,” freshman Nathan Quintanilla said.
